What is the advantage of a socket cap screw over a hex bolt?
Socket cap screws have a smaller head that can be recessed into a counterbored hole for a flush finish, and are driven with a hex key where spanner access is limited. They are commonly made in higher tensile grades, up to 12.9.
What are the different socket set screw point types used for?
Cup point is the general-purpose choice, gripping the shaft. Cone point gives the strongest hold, often into a drilled dimple. Flat point suits surfaces that must not be marked. Dog point locates into a hole or slot, and knurled cup adds grip for semi-permanent settings.
Are socket screws available in stainless steel?
Yes - socket cap, countersunk and button head screws are available in A2 and A4 stainless steel alongside the high tensile self colour range.
