What is the difference between ISO 7380-1 and ISO 7380-2?
The ISO 7380 button head standard was split into Part 1, the plain button head, and Part 2, the flanged button head with a wider integral bearing flange. Older drawings often say just ISO 7380 - check the head style and dimensions to confirm which part is intended.

When should I use a button head instead of a cap head?
The domed head is lower profile than a cap head and needs no counterbore, so it suits visible or snag-sensitive surfaces. The shallower socket carries less drive engagement, so for maximum preload a DIN 912 cap head is the better choice.
