DIN 84 Slotted Cheese Head Machine Screws
We supply DIN 84 slotted cheese head machine screws in A2 and A4 stainless steel from M1 to M10, plus steel 4.8 zinc plated and a range of brass and nylon. Cheese head screws have a tall cylindrical head with a flat top and a single slot drive, used in light assembly, electrical enclosures and instrument work where a compact, high-sided head is needed.

Materials & strength
Steel 4.8
Property class 4.8 - minimum tensile strength 400 N/mm2. Zinc plated as standard. The general-purpose choice for light assembly and enclosure work.
Stainless A2 (304)
Supplied to class A2-50. Good general corrosion resistance for indoor and sheltered external use.
Stainless A4 (316)
Supplied to class A4-50. Molybdenum-bearing grade for marine, chloride and chemical environments - specify A4 anywhere salt is involved.
Brass
Lower strength than steel; chosen for electrical conductivity, non-magnetic properties and appearance. Common in electrical and instrument work.
Nylon
Insulating, lightweight, corrosion-immune; low mechanical strength and limited temperature range. For electrical isolation and light-duty fixing only.

DIN 84 has been superseded by ISO 1207. The standards are closely related, although dimensional or technical differences may exist. Most UK buyers and drawings still call up DIN 84, and we supply against either designation.
