DIN 561 Hex Bolts with Dog Point
We supply DIN 561 hex bolts with dog point in grade 8.8 steel, from M6 to M16 as tabled below, with other sizes and materials quoted on request. The plain cylindrical point extends beyond the thread to locate in a mating hole or groove, positioning the parts before clamping - and, unlike a plain thread end, without damaging the mating bore.

What is a dog point for?
The dog point is an unthreaded pilot that enters a drilled hole or slot in the mating part. It locates and retains the part - a shaft collar, gib strip or adjusting block - so the bolt both positions and clamps in one operation.
What is the difference between DIN 561 and DIN 915?
Both use a dog point, but DIN 561 has a small external hexagon head driven with a spanner, while DIN 915 (ISO equivalent: ISO 4028) is the headless socket set screw pattern driven with a hex key. Choose by access and by whether a protruding head is acceptable.
