DIN 479 Square Head Bolts with Short Dog Point

Why a square head instead of a hex?
A square head gives a bigger flat per corner and takes an open spanner at four positions - it stands up to frequent adjustment and to being held in a slot or against a face. On old machine tools and clamps it is the traditional adjusting-screw head.
What is the difference between DIN 479 and DIN 561?
Both carry a dog point. DIN 479 has a square head, DIN 561 a small hexagon head - the choice is usually made by the spanner access and the drawing's callout. Both locate the fastener in a mating hole or groove before clamping.
