Wood-to-Steel Self-Drilling Screws (Ribbed Csk with Wings)
We supply wood-to-steel self-drilling screws - ribbed countersunk head with reaming wings - in zinc plated hardened steel, gauges 8 to 14 (4.2mm to 6.3mm), from 32mm length. The wings ream a clearance hole through the timber, then break away when they meet the steel so the thread can bite and clamp the timber down tight; the ribbed countersunk head pulls in flush.

Materials & strength
Break-away wings
The wings behind the drill point ream a clearance hole in the timber and shear off on contact with the steel, letting the screw clamp the timber to the section rather than jacking it apart.
Ribbed countersunk head
The ribs under the head cut a neat countersink in the timber face so the head finishes flush without a separate countersinking pass.
Drill point
The extended drill point passes through the timber and cuts its own hole in the steel section beneath.
