What is a 4 prong tee nut used for?
Prong tee nuts provide a permanent metric thread in wood, chipboard and composite materials. The four prongs bite into the material as the nut is drawn in, anchoring it so a machine-threaded bolt can be fitted and removed repeatedly.
How is a prong tee nut fitted?
A hole sized to accept the barrel is drilled and the tee nut is pressed or tapped into the reverse face, embedding the prongs into the material to resist rotation. The bolt is then fitted from the opposite side.
Which length do I need?
Length is chosen to suit the material thickness. The dimensions table lists the lengths available at each diameter from M3 to M12.
