DIN 7967 Pal Nuts
DIN 7967 covers self-locking counter nuts, commonly called pal nuts — a pressed spring-steel nut run down against a standard nut to resist loosening. We supply DIN 7967 pal nuts in zinc plated spring steel and stainless steel A2 across a wide range of metric sizes.

Materials & strength
Spring-steel counter-locking
The sheet spring-steel form grips the bolt thread and loads against the main nut, resisting vibration loosening without a polymer insert.
Minimal height and weight
Being a thin pressing, the pal nut adds a locking function while taking up far less space than a second full nut.
What is a DIN 7967 pal nut?
DIN 7967 covers pal nuts (self-locking counter nuts): thin pressed nuts formed from spring steel, fitted after the main nut to lock it. They add very little height or weight to the joint.
How does a pal nut work?
The pressed form acts as a spring - its formed thread grips the bolt flanks and it bears against the face of the main nut, so the pair resist rotating loose under vibration. The main nut carries the joint load; the pal nut provides the counter-locking.
When are pal nuts used?
Where a light, low-profile locking element is wanted on top of a standard nut - common in vehicle, plant and general machinery assembly. They are a locking device rather than a load-carrying nut.
What materials are DIN 7967 pal nuts available in?
DIN 7967 pal nuts are available in zinc plated spring steel and stainless steel A2 across a wide range of metric sizes.
