Aerotight All-Metal Locking Nuts
The Aerotight nut is an all-metal self-locking nut of long-established design, used where resistance to vibration loosening matters. We supply Aerotight nuts in mild steel, 303 stainless and 316 (A4) stainless across a wide range of metric sizes.

Materials & strength
Spring-arm all-metal locking
The slotted crown forms sprung arms that grip the bolt thread, giving vibration resistance without an insert and not limited by the temperature constraints of a polymer insert.
Ordinary pattern dimensions
The table lists the ordinary-height pattern (the F column); the design also exists in other patterns, so match the drawing when specifying.
What is an Aerotight nut?
The Aerotight nut is an all-metal self-locking nut with a slotted, sprung upper section. It is a long-established stiff-nut design used throughout industry where a reliable all-metal lock is specified.
How does an Aerotight nut lock?
The slots in the upper part of the nut form spring arms set slightly out of line with the main thread; running the bolt through deflects them, and their spring pressure grips the thread flanks. That grip strongly resists rotation under vibration.
Can Aerotight nuts be reused?
Being all metal and spring-acting, the nut can be refitted a limited number of times provided the threads are clean and undamaged, though locking performance reduces with repeated use. Inspect and replace when in doubt.
What materials are Aerotight nuts available in?
Aerotight nuts are available in mild steel, 303 stainless and 316 (A4) stainless across a wide range of metric sizes.
